The end of the universe as we know it?

27.04 – 02.06.2007

Anders Bojen & Kristoffer Ørum’s exhibition The end of the universe as we know it? presents a dystrophic scenario, where computer generated body fragments and singing microwave ovens suggest a post-human future.  Anders Bojen & Kristoffer Ørum work in the field between science fiction and popular science. Their works have clear references to media such as comic books and TV programmes and imitate in their documentary form the visual language of advertising. The exhibition ’The end of the universe as we know it?’ recounts the story about a black fluid – Ferro fluid – with magnetic properties, which generates forms and figures without human interaction. The exhibition ’The end of the universe as we know it?’ takes its point of departure in the classical conception of the end of the world. However, in Bojen and Ørum’s playful form the modern schizophrenia between anxiety and faith in the future transforms itself into a sparkling soap opera, where human fate is temporarily relocated to the mysterious experiments of a distant future.
