Galerie Mikael Andersen wishes everybody a Happy Christmas and New Year!
The gallery will be closed from the 23rd of December until the 11th of January 2022. While the gallery is closed it is possible to see a display of sculptures by Sonja Ferlov Mancoba in the window.
Earlier this year Estate Ferlov Mancoba announced the news that it will build a pavilion designed by the renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. The pavilion is to house a large collection of Sonja Ferlov Mancoba’s sculptures. The pavilion and the collection of sculptures will be donated to the Bornholm Art Museum. The sculptures on view in the gallery over the holidays are part of the future donation of more that 100 sculptures to the museum.
When Bornholm Art Museum reopens in 2022, it is possible to see an exhibition with sculptures by Sonja Ferlov Mancoba, along with a presentation of the future pavilion, to be built near the harbor in Allinge. The pavilion will be the first building by Tadao Ando in Scandinavia.
