FLOATING BODIES
15.06 – 19.08.2023
Galerie Mikael Andersen and curator Jens-Peter Brask are pleased to present Floating Bodies - a group exhibition and cross-section of the current American contemporary art scene, featuring selected works by Amy Bessone, Jane Corrigan, Jackie Gendel, Becky Kolsrud, Ammon Rost.
The exhibition revolves around the body as a theme, hence the title Floating Bodies. In the exhibition, we encounter the body as a concrete subject matter, but the show also aims to initiate a conversation and reflection on the body as a starting point in the creative process, with a focus on the living, intuitive, and expressive flow. Together, the five participating artists represent an art that moves between the abstract and the figurative in a sea of nuances, with practices that bear witness to a world in constant change.
L.A-based artist Amy Bessone’s (b. 1970) works with both paintings and ceramics. Her work is included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Rubell Family Collection, Miami; the Saatchi Collection, London, and Frac Bretagne, Chateugiron.
Jane Corrigan (b. 1980, Shawville, Canada) lives and works in New York. Corrigan has exhibited widely across USA and Canada, as well as in Germany. Her work is included in the collection of Tampa Museum of Art, Florida.
Jackie Gendel (b. 1973, Houston, TX) lives in Providence, Rhode Island. She has exhibition in New York, Houston, and Los Angeles. She is represented in the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Connecticut.
