KATHRINE ÆRTEBJERG

Tak til verden (Hindbær)

Galerie Mikael Andersen is pleased to invite you to the opening

of the exhibition Tak til verden (Hindbær) with new works by

Kathrine Ærtebjerg, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5-7 PM.

The exhibition is a
gesamtkunstwerk consisting of drawings,

paintings, photographs, and music.

The title ”Tak til verden (Hindbær) is taken from Ærtebjerg’s

debut music album Hindbær, which will be officially released on

LP, CD and digital on September 18. Galerie Mikael Andersen

will host a release party and live performance of the album on

that day from 7-9 PM.

Both ”Tak til verden” and ”Hindbær” are songs on the album,

which features 10 tracks written and composed by Ærtebjerg,

and performed by her as vocalist.

Kathrine Ærtebjerg’s new artworks were created with her new

music in mind. The imagery in the pieces is drawn from her

songs, which explores themes such as nature, animals,

motherhood, femininity, loneliness, spirituality, and love.

Both the songs and the visual works are existential and narrative

in character, unfolding in surreal and fairy-tale-like settings.

Plants, animals, and humans coexist in animated universes

where reality and fantasy merge.

The drawings in the exhibition are black-and-white ink works

made with brush and a spray-like painting technique. The

paintings are done, as usual, in acrylic, spray paint, and oil on

canvas. The photographs feature the artist herself and are taken

with a self-timer. The music playing in the exhibition is from

upcoming album Hindbær; selected tracks are played both with

and without vocals.

The exhibition clearly shows how Ærtebjerg is able to evolve

and expand her artistic field while maintaining her consistent

themes, personal style, and distinct identity.

Ærtebjerg works playfully and inquisitively with painting,

drawing, sculpture, animation, and photography. While

songwriting and music releases are new for Ærtebjerg, she has

expressed herself through words and music as part of her

artistic practice for many years, and she made her debut as a

poet in the literary magazine Hvedekorn in 1989.

AM-3 PM.
