Galerie Mikael Andersen is pleased to present the group show High Lights. After two solo shows of Danish artists Kathrine Ærtebjerg and Kaspar Bonnén, Galerie Mikael Andersen Berlin now presents highlights of the gallery program in Copenhagen as well as refers to the new direction of the Berlin platform. High Lights is hence a link between the two galleries in Copenhagen and Berlin. The exhibition shows pieces by established artists such as Günther Förg, Poul Gernes, Martin Kippenberger and Albert Oehlen as well as artists of the younger generation such as Sofia Hultén, Eske Kath, Wolf von Kries, Vladimir Mitrev und Lars Tygesen.

The centre of the exhibition High Lights is Martin Kippenberger’s painting ‘Tisch’ from 1994, which was on display at Galerie Mikael Andersen in Copenhagen already in 1996. This work dissociates from conceptual art in an ironic way, and at the same time challenges the relation to painting overall.

Günther Förg will be on display with a large-sized metal work, from Albert Oehlen a digital print combined with acrylic on canvas from 1997 will be shown. These largely conceptual works stand in contrast to the classic pictorial positions of Mustafa Maluka and Lars Tygesen as well as collages of Eske Kath. The contemporary conceptual works of artists living in Berlin – Sofia Hultén, Wolf von Kries und Vladimir Mitrev – expand the positions of the exhibition.
