About
Günther
Förg was one of the most prominent German artists of his generation.
Backed by an impressive output, he has had exhibitions at art museums
across Europe. Günther Förg launched his art career in the 1970s
with a series of monochrome paintings. Although he has since worked
in a variety of materials and techniques, including sculpture,
ceramics and photography, monochromatic painting remains his artistic
backbone to which his various bodies of work all adhere. In his
architectural photographs he nurtured an aesthetic inspired by
Bauhaus while his paintings reflect on art in general and often
American abstract expressionism in particular. In Denmark, Förg's
work may be viewed at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the
National Museum of Art, ARoS Museum of Art and Arken Museum of Modern
Art.
