Lucy Teasdale (b. 1984) explores sculpture using various materials and methods of creation. Starting from drawings, her figures attain a formal, abstract language that reference a wide range of art history and allude as well to everyday objects. Teasdale works with a variety of synthetic materials with which she casts her sculptures, creating each in a single colour. Additionally, she uses materials such as toys, which she modifies, loading them with references to literature or pop culture. Teasdale began her studies at the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London. Currently she lives and works in Düsseldorf and studies at the Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie in the class of Tony Cragg.
